About Trace the Lost

Our Mission

Trace the Lost is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit PI firm that provides free, professional investigative services to help locate missing persons, with a focus on marginalized and underserved communities. We operate at the intersection of public service, private investigation, and social justice — offering hope and answers where traditional systems fall short.

Mission Statement

Trace the Lost is a nonprofit private investigation firm dedicated to locating missing persons and reuniting them with their loved ones. Through investigative expertise, community engagement, and unwavering compassion, we serve families in crisis, raise public awareness, and work in partnership with law enforcement to bring answers, justice, and hope.

Gaps in the Missing Persons Response:

Each year, thousands of individuals go missing in the United States and globally. While many are found quickly, a significant number — particularly children, vulnerable adults, marginalized individuals, and victims of trafficking — remain missing for weeks, months, or years. Key challenges include:

  • Overburdened law enforcement with limited resources for long-term or complex cases.
  • Inequities in media attention and investigative effort based on race, socioeconomic status, or lifestyle.
  • Lack of support for families navigating the emotional, legal, and logistical challenges of a missing loved one.

Our  Vision:

Mission: To provide free, ethical, and effective private investigative services to families of the missing, especially those underserved by traditional systems.

Vision: A world where no one disappears without action, and every family has access to the truth.

Our Services:

Trace the Lost offers a holistic, trauma-informed investigative model:

  • Case Review & Intake: We gather all available facts, conduct interviews, and assess gaps in ongoing efforts.
  • Field Investigations: Conduct independent, licensed investigations in collaboration with law enforcement.
  • Data & OSINT Analysis: Use modern tools, databases, and digital footprints to trace individuals.
  • Family Support & Advocacy: Help families with media outreach, legal navigation, and trauma resources.
  • Public Awareness Campaigns: Elevate underrepresented cases and push for systemic change.

Core Values

  • Integrity: We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards.
  • Compassion: Families are not clients; they are our mission.
  • Persistence: We do not stop until all leads are exhausted.
  • Equity: Every case matters, regardless of background or public attention.
  • Collaboration: We work with law enforcement, NGOs, and communities — never against them.
